STEWARDING IN PRACTICE
Jacques van DaeleThis year the FEI bureau gave its approval to new Stewards’ guidelines on warm-up techniques produced by the Working Group formed after the round-table conference held in Lausanne on 9 February 2010. During the Global Dressage Forum FEI’s Dressage Steward General, Jacques van Daele, will lead a practical session with riders, warming up their horses in different ways. The practical implementation of the new rules will be discussed with an international panel, including riders and trainers.
What does the new Stewarding regime mean for you ?
Be prepared for the consequences of ‘new stewarding’. Several riders and horses will ‘warm up’ in their own way: high, low, short, with and without pressure. How will they be handled by the stewards, acting on the basis of the new rules?

THE FLEXCHAIR-HORSERIDER-TRAINING
Ada WoutersAda Wouters-Brongers combines her physical and manual therapy with her own riding career. She has a wealth of experience working with riders to eradicate poor positional habits. A few years ago she started using the Flexchair, in order to identify weaknesses in stability, posture and biomechanics in the lower back and pelvisFor 5 years the Flexchair crossed Ada’s path and she invested in this chair to help her patients with back- and pelvic problems. She was triggered, because sitting and moving on this Flexchair she finally got aware why she had sitting problems when she was horse riding. Besides, together with a specialized pelvic therapist she found out that hyper action or dysfunction of the pelvic bottom muscles, measured by myo-feedback, could be very well trained by the Flexchair. During the Forum Ada Wouters will give a practical presentation assisted by volunteers selected out of the audience.

DO’S AND DON’TS OF HORSESHOES
Rob RenirieRob Renirie was one of the speakers at the Global Dressage Forum in 2009. By over-whelming demand from many participants he is invited to return. He has some basic precepts from which he tries never to deviate – dressage is about the exterior of the horse, the way that animal moves and the right choices of material and shoes to keep the feet supported, balanced and well-shod. He aims to encourage horses to extend their stride and land on the entire ground surface of each foot. “You can’t make a Ferrari out of a Fiat” but you can use common sense, knowledge and experience to set high standards and make the horse as comfortable as possible and fit to do his job.
‘Back by request’
Farrier Rob Renirie attracted massive interest during his workshop at the Forum in 2009. By popular demand he is back to enlighten us still further on the critical subject of shoeing the dressage horse.
