Introduction

Frank Kemperman and Joep Bartels

On training methods in dressage there were a brilliant clinic by Spanish National trainer Jean Bemelmans, who presented Spanish team riders Jordi Domingo and Juan Manuel Munoz Diaz, with two totally different horses, the 10 year old KWPN bred stallion Prestige (Ferro x Farmer) and the 9 year old pure bred Spanish stallion Fuego XII (v.Utrerano). The KWPN stallion with an inborn potential to gallop, the Spanish stallion with its inborn talent for passage and a stately trot. Jean Bemelmans used a different gallop training for both stallions.

“Riding”, said Bemelmans, “is a game with an animal that likes to play. But you have to be the boss of that game.”

A detailed report will be published on the website ‘Report 2007’ in November.
