‘dressage and jumping'
Several months ago Kyra Kyrklund and ex world champion in show jumping Franke Sloothaak met in Austria, when they both were giving clinics in Vienna. The two riders were impressed by the performance of each other, and concluded that there are some interesting parallels between the two disciplines. The organisers of the Global Dressage Forum have invited Kyra and Franke for a combined presentation. Kyrklund started her career as a show jumper. She will talk about her experiences and the role show jumping has in her development as a rider and trainer. Sloothaak will ride one of his horses and explain his training system, which is very much based on mental and physical development of the horse. During the panel session a discussion will take place on several items and questions:
* Should young dressage horses jump fences? *What about riding round and deep from a show jumper’s angle? *Should we educate future dressage riders for a better balance by giving them jumping experience?
