Talent development explained with top mental coach of Holland
The Dutch National Federation has been awarded in 2004 by the National Olympic Committee for its successful talent scouting and development program: ‘Rabo Talentenplan’. The Dutch NF will now present several items, including a contribution on mental coaching by Hollands famous sporpsycholgist dr. Rico Schuijers.on Tuesday November 1, during the second day of the Forum, the Rabo Talent ptoject will be presented by NF director George de Jong, trainer Rien van der Schaft, sport psychologist dr. Rico Schuijers and several young top riders. Dutch juniors and young riders have won dozens of medals in the past few years. The Dutch teams in Athens were amongst the youngest in average age. Members of the ‘Rabo talent team’ have even taken part in senior championships. In 2005 Laurens van Lieren (23 years) participated in the EC in Hagen (Ger), as Harrie Smolders (25 years) was very successful in the super league final in Barcelona. Some of the mentioned riders will actively be involved with their horses in the presentation at the Global Dressage Forum. Also the participation of Holland’s most famous mental coach dr. Schuijers will be a unique opportunity to look behind the scenes of Dutch success.
